These are the rules for using Radio Christmas. We have tried to keep them short and plain. If anything is unclear, write to us (section 12).
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Radio Christmas is run by Radio Christmas CIC, a community interest company registered in England (company number 14769441), 2 Centenary Way, Amersham, Buckinghamshire, HP6 6UL. The money Radio Christmas raises goes to Street Kids Direct, a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1102894).
These terms cover our website (radiochristmas.co.uk), our apps (iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple TV, CarPlay and Android Auto), the web player and the station itself. By using any of them you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.
How we look after your personal information is in our Privacy Policy.
2. Listening and our content
- Radio Christmas is for your own, personal, non-commercial listening.
- Please don’t rebroadcast the stream, record it to copy, share or reuse, or play it in public or in a business (for example in a shop, a venue or on another station or stream).
- The music is played under the station’s licences, which cover listening only. That is why we can’t allow it to be recorded or reused.
- Adverts and sponsor messages, on air and in the apps, come from the advertisers and sponsors. We don’t endorse every product, and advertisers have their own terms with us.
- The station’s content, names and logos belong to Radio Christmas CIC (or the people who made them, and who have allowed us to use them). Please don’t copy or reuse them without asking us first.
3. Availability
We provide the website, the apps and the stream as they are. We work hard to keep them running, but we can’t promise they will always be available or free of faults. The stream, the schedule, the apps or the website may be interrupted, changed or taken away at any time, and the schedule may change at short notice.
4. What you send us
You can send messages, song requests and dedications through the website, the apps, email, phone, WhatsApp or text. If you’re under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before you send us a message or call the studio.
- We may read them out or play them on air, with your first name or the name you give us. Calls and voice messages to the studio may also be recorded and broadcast. If you would rather we didn’t, tell us when you send it or call.
- Texts to the studio go to 70099 and start with KIDS: each costs £1 plus your network rate, and that £1 is a donation to Street Kids Direct (section 6.2).
- Please be respectful. No abuse, hate, bullying, adverts or anything unlawful. We may ignore or remove anything that breaks this, and may stop replying.
- Music submissions: our Music Team reviews what’s sent in, but we don’t guarantee a response or airplay.
- Only send things you have the right to share. Don’t send other people’s private details, or words, pictures or music you don’t have permission to use.
How long we keep what you send is in the Privacy Policy.
5. Competitions and giveaways
We sometimes run competitions and giveaways. Each one has its own rules, given on air or on our website when it runs, and those rules apply alongside these terms. Unless a competition’s rules say otherwise, entry is free, it’s open to people in the UK, and we pick winners fairly and contact them using the details they entered with.
6. Giving
6.1 Online donations
Online donations are made on the charity’s giving pages: Enthuse in the UK and WGM (World Gospel Mission) in the USA. Those services’ own terms apply to your gift. The apps open the donation page in your phone’s browser; no donation is taken inside the apps. Donations go to Street Kids Direct (registered charity No. 1102894).
6.2 Text-to-give
You can give by text to 70099. Please read these terms before you text.
- What it costs. Text KIDS to give £1, KIDS5 to give £5, or KIDS10 to give £10. The amount is added to your phone bill or taken from your pay-as-you-go credit. Each text also costs one message at your standard network rate.
- Who can give. You must be 16 or over and have the bill payer’s permission. If you are not the bill payer, ask them first.
- UK mobiles only. Texts to 70099 work from UK mobile networks only (as the app says).
- Where the money goes. The full amount you give goes to Street Kids Direct (registered charity No. 1102894). 100% of your donation reaches the charity.
- Gift Aid. Gift Aid can’t be claimed on text donations.
- Who handles the texts. Texts are handled by Cymba, which uses Fonix, and passed to Street Kids Direct to record your gift. The Privacy Policy explains what is shared.
- Charged by mistake? Email [email protected] and we’ll look into a refund.
- Questions or help. Email [email protected].
7. Volunteering
Applying to volunteer doesn’t guarantee a role. Some roles need a DBS (criminal records) check, and we may ask you to have one before you start. There is no minimum age, but if you are under 16 we need your parent’s or guardian’s consent before going ahead, and we may contact them. How we use your application is in the Privacy Policy.
8. Links to other sites and apps
Our website and apps link to other sites and services (such as Enthuse, WGM, social media and Apple Music). They have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them or for what they contain.
9. Our liability
We take care over what we do, but we can’t be responsible for every problem. To the fullest extent the law allows, Radio Christmas CIC isn’t liable for losses that come from using, or not being able to use, the station, the website or the apps, including interruptions, faults, or mistakes in the schedule or song information. We are not liable for loss that we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes anything that the law of England and Wales doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your rights as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms, and governing law
We may change these terms, for example when what we do changes. We’ll put the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If the change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or on the site. Using the station after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can deal with any dispute, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also have the right to go to your local court.
11. Comments and complaints
If you would like to make a comment or complaint about Radio Christmas, email [email protected] or call +44 (0) 1494 853797. How we handle complaints is on our Contact page. If you are unhappy with the response you receive, you can complain directly to the regulator, Ofcom, at ofcom.org.uk/complaints.
